WD2002: Word Stops Responding After Undoing All Paste Actions (292167)

SYMPTOMS

When you paste a selection of text at the end of a sentence, and then undo all of the paste actions, Microsoft Word stops responding (hangs).

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if all of the following conditions are true:
  • You repeatedly paste a grammatically incorrect phrase without leaving space between the pasted text selections.

    -and-
  • The Adjust paragraph spacing on paste check box is not selected.

    -and-
  • You undo all of the paste actions.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, click to select the Adjust paragraph spacing on paste check box in the Settings dialog box. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start Microsoft Word 2002.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  3. In the Options dialog box, click the Edit tab, and then click Settings.
  4. In the Settings dialog box, click to select the Adjust paragraph spacing on paste check box, and then click OK twice.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
