Microsoft Word may stop responding (hang) when you press the PAGE UP key to return to the beginning of the document.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if all of the following conditions are true:
- The document contains more than 10 pages and uses the header Page X of Y.
-and- - You click Track Changes on the Tools menu and make at least one change to the document.
-and- - The document contains an inserted table with an embedded drawing.
-and- - After you reach the end of the document, you press and hold down PAGE UP to scroll to the top of the document.
Word may stop responding when the inserted table comes into view as you press and hold down PAGE UP.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, avoid using PAGE UP to scroll to the top of the document. Instead, click and drag the scroll bar on the right side of the document to scroll to other areas of the document.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
