Error message when you try to run the Pleading Wizard (292153)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to run the Pleading Wizard, you may receive any of the following messages, and the Pleading Wizard does not start:

To run the Pleading Wizard, choose New from the File menu, then double-click the Pleading Wizard under the Legal Pleadings tab. Choose to create a new document, not a template. You will be able to create a new template from within the wizard itself.

-or-
Word cannot give a document the same name as an open document. Type a different name for the document you want to save. (c:\...\Pleading Template1.dot).
-or-
The wizard could not save the file as Pleading Template1.dot. Please enter another name. Do not enter a path. The wizard will save the file in n:\my documents\templates\Legal Pleadings\.
-or-
Invalid procedure call or argument.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain and download the Pleading Wizard Reset. The following file is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center:

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help to prevent any unauthorized changes to the file.

Note To make sure that you rename the correct file, we recommend that you follow these steps:
  1. Right-click Start, and then click Explore.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
  3. On the View tab, click to clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box, and then click OK.
To install the Pleading Wizard Reset, follow these steps:
  1. Quit Word, start Windows Explorer, and then open the Office Templates folder.

    By default, all the document templates are installed in the following folder:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\1033\

  2. Right-click the Pleading Wizard.wiz file, and then click Rename. Rename the file to Pleading Wizard.old.
  3. Copy the downloaded Pleading Wizard Reset.wiz to the Office Templates folder.
  4. Right-click the Pleading Wizard Reset.wiz file, and then click Rename. Rename the file to Pleading Wizard.wiz.
To run the Pleading Wizard, follow these steps:
  1. Start Word, and then click New on the File menu.
  2. In the New Document task pane, click General Templates.
  3. In the Templates dialog box, click the Legal Pleadings tab, and then click Pleading Wizard. Click OK.
