This article was previously published under Q292125 SYMPTOMS
Numbers are removed from a numbered list after you select it. This can occur when you do the following. In the Bullets and Numbering dialog box, you click the List Styles tab, and then click OK.
This happens even though you did not select any options on the List Styles tab.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur because when you click the List Styles tab in the Bullets and Numbering dialog box, the default selection in the List Styles list is No List. As a result, the No List style is applied to the currently selected list.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, do one of the following:
- If you click OK in the Bullets and Numbering dialog box, and the numbers are removed from your list, click Undo on the Edit menu to restore the numbers.
-or- - Click the current list style for your selected list in the List Styles list before you click OK on the List Styles tab.
-or- - Click Cancel to close the Bullets and Numbering dialog box without making any changes.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
