This article was previously published under Q292113 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Word, a table may appear to lose all of the rows below a cell in which you have entered text when you view it in the reviewing pane. However, in the document pane, the table appears as expected.
If you enter text from the document pane into a cell that has disappeared from the reviewing pane, the part of the table that disappeared from the reviewing pane appears in a new table in the reviewing pane.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when you follow these steps:
- Turn on the Track Changes feature (click the Track Changes tool on the Reviewing toolbar).
- Insert a table with more that one row and more than one column.
- Turn off Track Changes (click the Track Changes tool on the Reviewing toolbar).
- Click Reviewing Pane on the Reviewing toolbar to make the reviewing pane appear.
- Enter text into a cell in the table that is not in the first column or the last row.
RESOLUTION
To work around this behavior, use one of the following methods:
- Do not turn on Track Changes until after you insert the table.
NOTE: The individual table cells do not appear in the reviewing pane.
-or- - If you turn on Track Changes before you insert the table, do not turn off Track Changes until you finish inserting data into the table.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
