Unable to reset smart tag Recognizers list to the default settings in Word (292105)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to reset Microsoft Office Word to its default settings, the smart tag Recognizers list (on the Smart Tags tab in the AutoCorrect dialog box) is not reset to the default startup values as expected.

Microsoft Word is not reset to its default settings as expected when you delete the Normal.dot template file and the Data subkey in the following Microsoft Windows registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Word

To view the smart tags Recognizers list, click AutoCorrect Options on the Tools menu, and then click the Smart Tags tab.
If all Microsoft Office XP smart tags are installed, the default values for Word are as follows:

Person Names: cleared
Dates: selected
Times: selected
Addresses: selected
Places: selected
Telephone numbers: cleared
Recent Outlook e-mail recipients: selected
Smart Tag Lists (MSN MoneyCentral Financial Symbols): cleared

To turn on or turn off a smart tag, click to select, or click to clear, the check box of the smart tag that you want, and then click OK.
