SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Word, if you print a document that contains LISTNUM fields in multiple text boxes, the LISTNUM fields may not be printed with the correct sequence. The numbers are incorrect.

NOTE: This behavior occurs even though the LISTNUM fields appear in the correct sequence when you view the document in print preview.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, make sure that each text box has a separate anchor point. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. In the Options dialog box, click the View tab.
  3. Under Print and Web Layout options, make sure that the Object anchors check box is selected, and then click OK.
  4. Press ENTER once for every text box that you want to number.
  5. Select the first text box.
  6. When the anchor point appears, click and drag the anchor point to the top of the document.
  7. Select the next text box that you want to number.
  8. When the anchor point appears, click and drag the anchor point to the next blank paragraph.
  9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 until you have changed the anchor points for all of the text boxes that you want to number.
  10. On the File menu, click Print.
