XCCC: Exchange 2000 OWA Cannot Access Exchange Server 5.5 Public Folders (292019)

You can only use OWA to access Exchange 2000 public folders; you cannot use OWA to access Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 public folders unless you have created a public folders Connection Agreement and the Exchange Server 5.5 public folders have been replicated to the Exchange 2000 computer. If you try to access an Exchange Server 5.5 public folder by using Exchange 2000 OWA, and a public folders Connection Agreement has not been created, you cannot view the public folders that are listed under the All Public Folders tree.

If you have created a public folders Connection Agreement, but the public folders have not yet been replicated to the Exchange 2000 computer, you cannot view the contents folders using a Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) client such as Microsoft Outlook. However, you can view the names of the public folders in the All Public Folders tree using OWA, but if you attempt to access messages in the public folders, you may receive the following message: If you replicate the public folder to the Exchange 2000 computer, you can view the contents of the Exchange Server 5.5 public folders by using both a MAPI client computer and Exchange 2000 OWA.

If the Free/Busy System Folder is located on the Exchange 5.5 server, you cannot view Free/Busy information for other attendees when you make appointments from OWA 2000. To resolve this behavior, replicate the Free/Busy Folder to the Exchange 2000 server.
