MSDSS Two-Way Synchronization May Erase Active Directory E-mail Addresses (292008)

SYMPTOMS

The Microsoft Directory Synchronization Services (MSDSS) tool synchronizes all users' properties, and may delete users' e-mail addresses if the address do not exist on the Novell NDS side.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because a flag is set incorrectly.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
