This article was previously published under Q292005 SYMPTOMS
When you use Outlook Express to send a text attachment that contains Unicode characters, the attachment becomes corrupted if the recipient tries to open it with a Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) program. This behavior occurs on a computer that runs Windows 2000 with CDO programs in Exchange 2000.
This behavior can also affect the appearance of an e-mail address if a message that you post to a newsgroup uses a double-byte character set (DBCS). The characters in the address properties appear as question marks in e-mail clients. You may also experience this behavior if you use Japanese characters and view the address in the English locale.
