XCON: Cannot Reply to X.400 Recipients If the Address Contains a Slash Mark as a Field Separator (292001)

Users cannot reply to e-mail messages if the X.400 addresses of the recipients have a slash mark (/) as a field separator instead of a semicolon (;). The local message transfer agent (MTA) generates the following non-delivery report (NDR):
From: System Administrator
Sent: Wednesday, February 28, 2001 2:19 PM
To: c=US/a= /p=myorg/o=exchange/s=userZ/
Subject: Undeliverable: [X400:c=US/a= /p=myorg/o=exchange/s=userZ]
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
Subject: [X400:c=US/a= /p=myorg/o=exchange/s=userZ]
Sent: 2/28/2001 2:01 PM
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
c=US/a= /p=myorg/o=exchange/s=userZ/ on 2/28/2001 2:18 PM
The e-mail address could not be found. Perhaps the recipient moved to a different e-mail organization, or there was a mistake in the address. Check the address and try again.
CAUSE
This issue can occur because a slash mark as separator in an X.400 address is possible in Exchange Server 5.5, but is not handled correctly in Exchange 2000.
