PRJ2000: Project Appears to Stop Responding When You Save a Shared Resource Project File to a Database (291937)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project 2000, when you save a project to a database, and that project uses a resource pool that is stored in a separate database, Microsoft Project may appear to stop responding for a long time.

You do not receive an error message.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the Data Source Name (DSN) that you use to save the project uses Windows Authentication rather than Microsoft SQL Server Authentication.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next service pack that contains this hotfix.
