When you open a hypertext link that has been pasted into an e-mail message, the Internet Explorer Home page is opened instead of the Web page that is connected to the link that you clicked.
CAUSE
This issue occurs because the URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol file type has an incorrect value in the Topic box for the Open function.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue in Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows 98: - Double-click My Computer, and then click Folder Options on the View menu.
- Click the File Types tab, click URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol in the Registered file types list, and then click Edit.
- Click Open in the Action box, and then click Edit.
- In the Topic box, type WWW_OpenUrl.
- Click OK twice, and then click Close.
To resolve this issue in Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me): - Double-click My Computer, and then click Folder Options on the Tools menu.
- Click the File Types tab, click URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol in the Registered file types list, and then click Advanced.
- Click Open in the Action box, and then click Edit.
- In the Topic box, type WWW_OpenUrl.
- Click OK twice, and then click Close.
