SYMPTOMS

When accessing Clip Gallery as a standalone application for from Microsoft Home Publishing 2000, the following message appears:
Clip gallery was unable to access the clip catalog. The problem is either the network resource or the removable storage device. Check all connections.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if the clip art catalog has become corrupted.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, repair the catalogs. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Microsoft Clip Gallery.
  2. Right-click a catgory (any one will do).
  3. Click Recover.
  4. Click Compact.
  5. Quit Clip Gallery.
