Error Message "Directory Service Is Busy" Occurs When You Run ForestPrep (291661)

SYMPTOMS

When you run the Mobile Information Server ForestPrep utility, the schema extension may fail, and you may receive the following error message:
Failed to extend Active Directory schema. Directory service is busy.
Retry or Cancel?

CAUSE

This issue can occur if another operation is extending the schema. For example, if Exchange Server 2000 Setup is being run on another server, and Setup is currently extending the schema, you may receive the error message described in the "Summary" section.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, wait until the other operation is complete, and then run Mobile Information Server ForestPrep again.
