During Windows Component Update installation of Microsoft Office XP Developer, a Microsoft Windows 98-based computer may reboot up to six times.
The list of components installed on a clean Windows 98-based computer are:
- Windows 98 System Update
- Windows 98 Y2K Update
- Windows 98 Y2K Update 2
- Setup Runtime Files
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5
- Microsoft Data Access Components 2.6
CAUSE
Microsoft Office XP Developer requires that certain versions of Windows components are installed before it installs client components.
RESOLUTION
If you pre-install the Windows 98 System Update, Year 2000 Update, and Year 2000 Update 2 from either the Web or from the Windows Component Update CD, you can reduce the number of reboots by two. You must install the components in the exact order as listed below.
