SYMPTOMS

If you insert an attachment in a message, delete the attachment, and then click Undo on the Edit menu to try and recover the attachment, the attachment appears to be recovered even though it is not.

CAUSE

  • You created the message in either Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) or plain text format.
  • You do not have Microsoft Word as your e-mail editor.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, re-insert the attachment by clicking the Paperclip icon on the toolbar, locating the file that you want to insert, clicking to select the file, and then clicking the Insert button instead of clicking Undo on the Edit menu.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
