This article was previously published under Q291343 SYMPTOMS When click Search on the Start menu to search for files or folders or you right-click the Microsoft Outlook 2000 icon on your desktop, and then click Properties, you may receive the following error message:
Explorer.exe has generated errors and will be closed by
Windows. You will need to restart the program.
An error log is being
created. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the latest service
pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article

WORKAROUND To work around this problem, start any Microsoft Office
program before you search for files or folders by clicking Search on the Start menu or right-clicking the Microsoft Outlook 2000 icon on your desktop, and then clicking Properties. STATUSMicrosoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service
