SUMMARY

This article describes how to send notifications from Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server computer mailboxes before Exchange 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1) is available.

MORE INFORMATION

The Mobile Information Server Enterprise Edition Exchange Notifications component (Exchange 2000 Event Source) enables you to send notifications from Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server computer mailboxes. To install the Exchange Notifications component on your Exchange 2000 computer, you must apply Exchange 2000 SP1.

If you want to use push notifications before Exchange 2000 SP1 is available, you can use Microsoft Outlook Mobile Manager on client computers to send notifications to Mobile Information Server Enterprise Edition. When you use Outlook Mobile Manager, you do not prevent the installation of the Mobile Information Server component itself, which you install on a computer that is not running Exchange Server. You are able to browse your Exchange mailbox by using Outlook Mobile Access. You can use Outlook Mobile Access (a part of Mobile Information Server) to access intranet programs by using the intranet browser program before Exchange 2000 SP1 is available.

After you install Exchange 2000 SP1, run Mobile Information Server 2001 Setup on the Exchange Server computer to add the Exchange Notifications component.
