Publish a Picture From a Scanner or Digital Camera

To publish pictures on the Web directly from a scanner or digital camera, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, and then click My Pictures.
2. In the left pane, click Get picture from camera or scanner.
3. Click Next on the Welcome to the Scanner and Camera Wizard page.
4. Proceed through the wizard until you reach the Select a Picture Name and Destination page. Type the picture name and set your preferences as desired.
5. On the Other Options page, click Publish these pictures to a Web site.
6. Click Next to proceed to the Change your file selection page, and then click the files that you want to publish.
7. Click Next to proceed to the Where Do You Want To Publish These Files page, and then select your preferred Internet Service Provider.
   
   NOTE: Depending on your selection, a wizard may walk you through the creation or use of an existing Passport account. With a Passport account, you can create a unique user name and password that you can use on many Web sites so that you do not have to enter the same information multiple times.
8. When the transfer is complete, you see the Completing the Scanner and Camera Wizard page. The location from which the pictures were uploaded is displayed at the bottom of the window in the form of a link. You may want to make a note of the location before you click Finish.

NOTE: The wizard places a link to the location to which the pictures were uploaded in My Network Places.

Publish a Picture From a Computer Folder

To publish a picture from My Pictures or another folder on the computer:

1. In Windows Explorer, click the picture thumbnails, or the folder that contains the pictures that you want to publish.
2. Under File and Folder Tasks, click Publish this file to the Web or Publish this folder to the Web. If you selected more than one file, click Publish the selected items to the Web.
3. When the Web Publishing Wizard opens, click Next.
4. Follow steps 5 through 8 in the previous section.

By the launch date of Windows XP, Microsoft intends to include several service providers, to ensure multiple options for end users. Computer manufacturers and service providers themselves may also add additional service links to this wizard independent of Microsoft.
