OL2002: You Cannot Insert Handwritten Text in Outlook 2002 with the Handwriting Feature (291187)

SYMPTOMS

You cannot use the Handwriting feature in Outlook 2002 to insert handwritten text.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, set Microsoft Word as your e-mail editor and click Ink in either the Writing Pad or Write Anywhere toolbar. To do this:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Mail Format tab, click to select the Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages check box.
  3. Click Apply, and then click OK.
Use the following steps to select Ink in the Writing Pad or the Write Anywhere toolbar.

For the Writing Pad Toolbar

From the Language Bar, click Handwriting, click Writing Pad, and then click the Ink object.

For the Write Anywhere Toolbar


Click Handwriting, click Write Anywhere, and then click Ink object.

MORE INFORMATION

In Outlook 2002, you can only insert writing in the handwritten form in the body of a message. If you insert handwritten text in the To, the Cc, the Bc, and the Subject fields, it is automatically converted to typed text.
