Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server
CAUSE
This issue may occur if the Exchange Server administrator did not configure the Resource Calendar object for anonymous access. In Exchange Conferencing Server Service Pack 1 (SP1), anonymous users can use the new Web interface to schedule online conferences. However, for security reasons, the resources do not allow anonymous scheduling by default.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue if you are an Exchange Server administrator, enable anonymous scheduling for selected resources. To do so, log on to the resource mailbox and then give anonymous users Author permissions to the resource calendar as noted below. WARNING: If you enable anonymous scheduling, you may allow a malicious user to initiate a Denial of Service (DoS) attack by creating large number of recurring meetings, which creates delays for Conference Management Service (CMS) queries. NOTE: In order to set 'Default=Author' permissions on resource mailboxes to allow anonymous scheduling, Exchange 2000 Server SP1 (not to be confused with Conferencing Server SP1) must be installed on the Exchange Server where the resource mailboxes are homed.
- Log on to a computer as one of the resources, and then create a profile for the resource mailbox.
Alternatively, add the resource mailboxes to your existing profile. - Right-click the Calendar object, and then click Properties.
- Click the Permissions tab, and then give anonymous users Author permissions.
- Restart the Microsoft Exchange Conferencing Service.
- Schedule a resource anonymously to verify that Anonymous scheduling of this resource works.
If you do not know the resource mailbox logon name:
- Start Exchange System Manager.
- Browse to the following location, right-click Conferencing, and then click Manage:
Administrative Groups/Administrative Group/Conferencing - Click the appropriate Exchange Conferencing Management site, and then click OK.
- Right-click the Conferencing site, click Properties, and then click the Resources tab.
The conference resource mailboxes that are already created are displayed.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server Service Pack 1.
