SUMMARY

This article describes how to store Microsoft Outlook 2002 or Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 items in a Microsoft Access 2002 or Microsoft Office Access 2003 database file.

MORE INFORMATION

To store Outlook items in an Access table, follow these steps:
  1. If you want to store Outlook 2002 items in an Access 2002 table, start Access, and then click Blank Access Database on the New File task pane.

Alternatively, with Access running, click New on the File menu, and then click Blank Access Database on the New File task pane.

If you want to store Outlook 2003 items in an Access 2003 table, start Microsoft Access, click Create a New File on the right pane, and then click New Database.

Alternatively, with Access running, click New on the File menu, and then click Blank Database on the right pane that opens.
  2. In the File Name box, type a descriptive file name, such as "Contacts," and then click Create.
  3. On the File menu, point to Get External Data, and then click Import.
  4. In the Files Of Type box, click Outlook.
  5. In the Import Exchange/Outlook Wizard dialog box, click to select your Contacts folder, click Finish, and then click OK.

This imports your Outlook data into a table named after the Outlook folder from which the data was imported. Click Next instead of Finish to use the Import Wizard if you want to specify a different table or to give the table a different name.
Note This procedure imports only default standard Outlook fields. Custom or user-defined fields are not imported. If you want to select only certain fields, you can click Next instead of Finish in step 5, and then follow the instructions in the Import Wizard.
