Error When Configuring Active Directory Management Agent Discovery Parameters (290753)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Metadirectory Services 2.2
This article was previously published under Q290753 SYMPTOMS
You may experience the following symptoms in Microsoft Metadirectory Services (MMS):
- During the process of creating and configuring an Active Directory management agent, you select the Active Directory Containers to Discover parameter under Active Directory Container Selection.
- In the Active Directory Containers to Discover window, you click the elipses (...) button and the Enter Network Password dialog box appears; the You are connecting to area of this dialog box is blank.
- After you enter the appropriate credentials and after you click OK, an untitled message box appears, or it may have the title "LDAP Provider". The message box contains only an OK button and no other text.
- If you click OK, the message box closes. This process repeats each time that you enter the credentials or each time that you click OK in the Enter Network Password window.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the user interface reads the You are connecting to information from the metadirectory, and if the management agent is still open and running, the information has not yet been saved to the directory.
RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, close the management agent and then re-open it prior to performing this configuration.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Metadirectory Services Service Pack 1.
