PRB: "Internal DS Error" Opening MSMQ Explorer (290704)

SYMPTOMS

When attempting to open the MSMQ Explorer, the user receives the following message:
"Can't access Microsoft Message Queue Information Server. Internal DS Error"

CAUSE

The currently logged-on user does not have adequate permissions to view the MSMQ objects within MSMQ Explorer.

RESOLUTION

Either log on with the same administrative account that installed MSMQ or log on as the owner of the MSMQ objects (this is usually the same account that was used to install MSMQ, unless that account has been removed).

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
