SYMPTOMS

When you use English or Arabic Word 2000 to open a document that was created in Arabic Word 97, the Arabic font point size changes from 12 pt to 10 pt.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in the Microsoft Word 2000 Security Update: Macro Vulnerability.

In Arabic Word 97, the default size for text written using the Arabic script is 12 pt; in Word 2000 it is 10 pt. However, because of the characteristics of the script, Arabic script is typically formatted with a larger point size than Latin script to ensure better readability.
