OFFXP: E-mail Button Does Not Appear on the Standard Toolbar (290524)

SYMPTOMS

In the Microsoft Office XP programs listed at the beginning of this article, the E-mail button may be missing from the Standard toolbar, although the button was available earlier.

NOTE: In PowerPoint 2002, the Send To Mail Recipient command was removed from the File menu, and the E-mail button was removed from the Standard toolbar. For additional information, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if you change your default e-mail program to an e-mail client that cannot automatically send the current document as the body of an e-mail message.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, select a different default e-mail program. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On the Start menu, point to Settings and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double click Internet Options.
  3. On the Programs tab, click the arrow next to E-mail.
  4. Select Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express, and then click OK.
