MOD2000: modSystem Database Is Deleted When You Remove Microsoft Office 2000 Developer SR-1 (290487)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office 2000 Developer

This article was previously published under Q290487

SYMPTOMS

When you remove all of the Access Workflow Designer components installed by Microsoft Office 2000 Developer version 1.5, the modSystem database is deleted from SQL Server. Also, because the modSystem database is deleted, you lose any workflow templates that you have not yet saved out to template (.tpl) files.

When you remove all of Microsoft Office 2000 Developer version 1.5, the modSystem database is also deleted. The only exception is if the modSystem database has been published.

RESOLUTION

To prevent this behavior from occurring in the future, do one of the following:
  • Install Microsoft Office 2000 Developer version 1.5 Service Pack 2 (MODUpdate2). After you apply the Service Pack, if and when you decide to remove Access Workflow Designer Server, the modSystem database is detached from SQL Server but not deleted from your system. To download Microsoft Office 2000 Developer version 1.5 Service Pack 2, see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

  • In the Team Solutions Manager, save the templates to template files. To do so, open the Team Solutions Manager, and then on the Templates tab, click Export to File. This will save your template to a template file (*.tpl). At that point, you can remove the Access Workflow Designer components.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
