Open a File from an FTP Site To open a file from an FTP site, follow these steps:
- On the File menu, click
Open.
- In the Look In list, click
Add/Modify FTP Locations.
- In the Name of FTP Site box, type the name
of the FTP server.
For example, if the FTP site is located on the
Internet, type the name by using this format: If the FTP site is part of your company's intranet, type the name
by using this format: - If the FTP site supports anonymous authentication, click
the Anonymous option.
If you must have a user
account on the FTP site, click the User option, and then type
your name in the User list. - Type your password (if you have one) in the
Password box.
- Click Add.
- Click OK.
The FTP site appears in the list of sites where you can open or
save files.

Save a File to an FTP Site- On the File menu, click Save
As.
- In the Look In list, click the name of the
FTP location.

If you have appropriate access permissions to the FTP site, you
should be able to save files to the FTP site.

Troubleshooting To verify your connection to the FTP site, follow these steps:
- Click Start, and then click
Run.
- Type the name of the FTP site.
For example, type:
If your Web browser starts and you can see the contents of the
FTP site, you have the correct access to the site. This feature
requires that you have open and save permissions on the FTP
site.
