SYMPTOMS
Whenever you run the Outlook OST Integrity Checker tool (Scanost.exe) in Outlook 2002, the tool scans all folders, making the process take a long time.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. MORE INFORMATION
The default behavior is for Scanost.exe to scan all offline folders. In Outlook 2000, it scans only folders that are really offline. In Outlook 2002, however, all folders are "offline" by default and the tool synchronizes every folder to the OST, regardless of whether it has been synchronized before. This process can take a long time over a dial-up connection.
