OL2002: Outlook Resolves E-mail Address to the Alias If You Start Outlook Offline (290021)

SYMPTOMS

When you start Outlook offline, create a new contact, and then type an alias in the e-mail address field, Outlook attempts to resolve the alias instead of the Exchange e-mail address.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you leave the default No Details setting when you download the offline address book.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, use the Full Details setting when you download the offline address book.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
