SYMPTOMS

After you set up a rule that automatically moves an incoming message to a folder in Personal Folders, and you turn on the Ask me before sending a response option, when you send a message to yourself and request delivery and read receipts, you may receive a receipt without being asked.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the receipt you receive is the delivery receipt. The Ask me before sending a response option applies only to the read receipt.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, double-click the message in the appropriate folder. The resulting prompt asks whether you want to send a read receipt response.
