OL2002: Cannot Empty Hotmail Recycle Bin in Outlook 2002 (289974)

When you try to empty the Hotmail Recycle Bin by right-clicking the Delete Items folder and then clicking Empty "Deleted Items" Folder, Outlook may not empty the Hotmail Recycle Bin as expected.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur because the Recycle Bin folder is not replicated until the first time you move to it. Until then, it reports its contents as zero, and Outlook does not try to empty it.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, move to the Hotmail Recycle Bin before you attempt to delete its contents.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
