The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2002

This article was previously published under Q289957
This article discusses a Beta test product that is not yet announced or released publicly by Microsoft. Please feel free to familiarize yourself with this product, test it, and report problems to Microsoft.

SYMPTOMS

When you connect to an Exchange 2000 Server and use Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), extra entries appear in the Global Address List. The entries are public folder entries.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the Outlook client searches the Active Directory for any object that returns an e-mail address. All public folders that have an alias return an address and are added to the Global Address List.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
