This article was previously published under Q289946 SYMPTOMS
When you install Outlook 2002 on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000 as a full install and start Outlook for the first time, you may receive a dialog box that states that Outlook is creating a welcome message.
After you receive the dialog box, Outlook does not create a welcome message.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the welcome message was removed in Outlook 2002 and you are incorrectly reminded that Outlook is creating a welcome message.
WORKAROUND
Ignore the Creating Welcome Message dialog box on first run. Outlook functions normally after first run, and you will not receive the dialog box again.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
