OL2002: The 'Undo Last' Option Does Not Work in Spell Checker (289944)

SYMPTOMS

If you click Undo Last while the spell checker is checking the spelling of your message, Outlook does not correctly select and undo the last change that you made. If you continue with the spell checker, many other words are not selected correctly.

CAUSE

This problem occurs in Microsoft Outlook Rich Text format (RTF) and plain text message formats. This problem does not occur in Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) format.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, close the spell checker, make the correction manually, and then restart the spell checker.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use Microsoft Word as your default e-mail editor. To do this:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Mail Format tab, click to select Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages.
  3. Click OK to accept the changes, and then close the Options dialog box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
