OL2002: Messages Disappear From Your Inbox When You Add a New Rule for a Distribution List (289914)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q289914 SYMPTOMS
When you add a new Outlook rule to move messages that are sent from a distribution list to a specific folder, Outlook unexpectedly also moves other messages from your Inbox to the same folder.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because when you create an Outlook rule to move messages that are sent from a distribution list to a folder, the rule causes Outlook to move messages that are sent from the individual members of the distribution list to the folder also.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, design the rule with the condition that messages sent to the distribution list are moved to the specified folder, instead of messages sent from the distribution list.
