Phone Does Not Prompt for Credentials After Initial Connection (289903)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Mobile Information 2001 Server
This article was previously published under Q289903 SUMMARY
When you use a phone to browse your Exchange Server mailbox by using Outlook Mobile Access, you are prompted for credentials. If you turn the phone off, turn it back on, and then attempt to browse your mailbox, you may not be prompted for credentials again.
MORE INFORMATION
This behavior occurs because the browser on the phone has cached the credentials. Mobile Information Server uses Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) basic authentication which does not have a mechanism to tell the client computer when to timeout the cached password.
