BUG: Office XP Web Components Not Supported on MFC Dialog Boxes (289852)

SYMPTOMS

When you right-click a Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC) dialog box, click Insert ActiveX Control, and then select one of the following controls:
  • Microsoft Office Chart Control 10
  • Microsoft Office PivotTable Control 10
  • Microsoft Office Spreadsheet Control 10
the application stops responding (hangs) when it runs.

CAUSE

The MFC function that draws the dialog box is unable to create the control on the dialog box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Use of the Office XP Web Components on MFC dialog boxes has not been tested and is not supported.
