How to configure the Exchange 2000 Calendar Connector (289796)

For the Calendar Connector to successfully process free and busy information between Exchange 2000 and the partner computer, you must configure the Microsoft Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes or the Microsoft Exchange Connector for Novell GroupWise for directory synchronization and mail flow. For information about how to configure these connectors for directory synchronization and mail flow, please refer to the Exchange 2000 online Help that is included on the Exchange 2000 CD-ROM. Configure these connectors and verify directory synchronization and mail flow before you configure the Calendar Connector.

The Calendar Connector Setup program is located in the Calcon\I386 folder in Exchange 2000 SP1; however, the Calendar Connector is not automatically installed when you install the service pack. When you run Calendar Connector Setup, make sure that the first installation of the Exchange 2000 Calendar Connector extends the Active Directory schema.

How to Configure Calendar Connector to Exchange Information with Novell GroupWise

To configure the Calendar Connector to exchange free and busy information with a Novell GroupWise mail computer:

1. Click Start, click Programs, click Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
2. Right-click the Exchange 2000 Organization name (top level), click Properties, and then verify that the Display Routing Groups option and the Display Administrative Groups option have been enabled.
3. Browse to the following location, right-click Calendar Connector, and then click Properties:

   Administrative Groups/Administrative Group/ Routing Groups//Routing Group/Connectors

4. Click the General tab, and then note the descriptions for the default values.
5. Click Modify, click Connector for Novell GroupWise, and then click OK.
6. Click the Calendar Connections tab.
7. Click New, click Novell GroupWise, and then click OK.
8. In the GroupWise API Gateway box, type domain.gateway (for example, domain01.api), and then click OK.
9. Click the Schedule tab.
   
   By default this value is set to Never. Configure this setting so that it best suits your environment. Each time the Calendar Connector queries the partner system, it asks for 60 days worth of free and busy information (by default). If there is a large number of partner computer users, a large number of Exchange Server database log files may be generated until these files are purged by a full backup. It is recommended that you schedule in 15-minute increments in the Detail view.
10. If you have successfully synchronized directories between GroupWise and Exchange 2000 with the Connector for Novell GroupWise, log on to an Outlook client and send a meeting request to an Active Directory contact that represents a Novell GroupWise user. When you click the Attendee Availability tab in the meeting request, you should see something other than black diagonal lines against a white background, which signifies "No Information".
11. Send the meeting request, and if possible, log on to the GroupWise mailbox and accept the meeting request. For a further test, send the Exchange Server user a meeting request from the Novell GroupWise client.

How to Configure Calendar Connector to Exchange Information with Lotus Notes

To configure the Calendar Connector to exchange free and busy information with a Lotus Notes mail computer:

1. Click Start, click Programs, click Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
2. Right-click the Exchange Organization name (top level), click Properties, and then verify that the Display Routing Groups option and the Display Administrative Groups option have been selected.
3. Browse to the following location, right-click Calendar Connector, and then click Properties:

   Administrative Groups/Administrative Group/ Routing Groups//Routing Group/Connectors

4. Click the General tab, and then note the descriptions for the default values.
5. Click Modify, click Connector for Lotus Notes, and then click OK.
6. Click the Calendar Connections tab, click New, click Lotus Notes, and then click OK.
7. Type the server name and the Notes domain in the Windows NT Server Hosting the Notes Server box.
8. Type the path to the Notes.ini file.
   
   This file was installed on the Exchange 2000 computer when you installed the Notes client. The path must include the actual name of the .ini file, in addition to its folder location.
9. Click Modify, type the password of the client that Calendar Connector is using to log on to the Notes server in the Password box, and then click OK twice.
10. Click the Schedule tab.

11. Click Apply, click OK, and then test the connector by sending a meeting request to Notes user, which should be present in Active Directory from directory synchronization in the form of a contact object. Also send a meeting request from Notes to Exchange Server.
