SYMPTOMS

The Uninstall the application when it falls out of the scope of management Group Policy setting is properly configured, yet your program cannot be removed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior:
  1. Expand Computer Configuration, and then expand software settings. Or, expand User Configuration, and then expand software settings.
  2. Right-click Software Installation.
  3. Click Properties.
  4. Click the General tab, and then click to select the Uninstall the application when it falls out of the scope of management check box.
This policy setting can remove the software package provided that you are not dependent upon this software package (that is, the package has been deleted, or you have been moved to another organizational unit).

The program removal policy cannot occur under either of the following conditions:
  1. An inter-forest user object moves: the user's globally unique identifier (GUID) changes during the inter-forest move.
  2. A clean installation of the operating system occurs after a policy removal. The cached scripts are lost. These cached scripts are used to determine when a program had been installed on a computer.
