Virtual Private Network Support Is Unavailable for Handheld PC 2000 Devices (289568)

SYMPTOMS

The Virtual Private Network option is unavailable in the Make New Connection dialog box on Handheld PC (H/PC) 2000 devices.

CAUSE

Virtual private networking (VPN) is supported by the version of Windows CE (core system version 3.0) that is used by the H/PC 2000. However, the H/PC 2000 does not currently include a client that is capable of using the core VPN functionality in the operating system.

WORKAROUND

Although Microsoft does not provide a VPN client, third-party programs are available to add VPN support for H/PC 2000 and Pocket PC devices.
