OFFXPDEV: Uninstalling Office 2000 Developer 1.5 VBA Tools Removes Office XP Developer String Editor (289519)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office XP Developer
This article was previously published under Q289519 SYMPTOMS
When you install Microsoft Office XP Developer and set all Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) tools to load on startup, if you then uninstall Microsoft Office 2000 Developer Edition 1.5, the VBA tools are no longer set to load on startup. When you try to set the String Editor to load on startup, you receive the following error message:
String Editor is no longer available.
CAUSE
Although Office 2000 Developer 1.5 and Office XP Developer each contain individual add-ins for almost all the VBA tools, there is only one String Editor add-in for both versions.
RESOLUTION
To restore the String Editor, reinstall Office XP Developer. Then click to select the Load On Startup option.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Office XP Developer.
