PUB2002: Font Schemes Do Not Appear to Apply Major and Minor Fonts Consistently (289030)

Each font scheme in Microsoft Publisher contains a major font and a minor font for different levels of emphasis in your publications.
However, Microsoft Publisher 2002 does not appear to be consistent in the way it applies new font schemes. Text that uses the minor font in one scheme may use the major font in another scheme in the same text box.
CAUSE
Font schemes are built from Styles and Formatting entries. The major font is represented in most cases by the Title style and the minor font is represented by the Body Text style, but this is not always the case. Because the major and minor fonts may be assigned to different styles in different font schemes, there appears to be inconsistency when you apply different font schemes to the same publication.
WORKAROUND
Change the style or font of the text box so that it matches the font scheme.
Method 1: Changing the Style
To change the style, follow these steps:
- Select the text box with the font that does not match the major or minor font in the font scheme.
- On the Format menu, click Styles and Formatting.
- In the Styles and Formatting task pane, find the format that matches the major or minor font, and then click it to apply that format (and font) to the text box.
For example, the Binary font scheme uses Georgia as the minor font, but a text box with the Body Text style uses the Verdana font, which is not the minor font. If you change the style to Body Text 2, then the Georgia font is applied to the text box.
Method 2: Changing the Font
To change the font, follow these steps:
- Select the text box with the font that does not match the major or minor font in the font scheme.
- On the Format menu, click Font.
- In the Font dialog box, select the font, font style, and size that you want, and then click OK.
