PUB2002: Trapping Does Not Occur for Some Block Arrows (289028)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Publisher, when you print color separations of a publication that contains block arrows, some of the block arrows may not be printed with traps.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur with some block arrows when all of the following conditions are true:
  • The block arrows use the triple line style.
  • The line color of the block arrow is lighter than the background color.
  • The block arrow is not filled.
  • The line weight is too heavy.
  • The block arrow is too small.NOTE: The line weight and the block arrow size are indefinite because they are dependent upon each other. The larger the size of the block arrow, the heavier the line weight can be before the trapping disappears.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, you can slightly increase the size of the block arrow, or reduce the line weight of the arrow.

To increase the size of the block arrow, follow these steps:
  1. In the Publisher publication, select the block arrow that you want.
  2. Press and hold SHIFT to ensure that the arrow changes size proportionately.
  3. Grab a corner grab handle and move away from the center of the arrow.
To reduce the weight of the arrow lines, follow these steps:
  1. In the Publisher publication, select the block arrow that you want.
  2. On the Format menu, click AutoShape.
  3. In the Format AutoShape dialog box, under Line, click the down arrow in the Weight box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
