PUB2002: Border Is Printed Around .EPS Image (289017)

SYMPTOMS
When you print a Microsoft Publisher publication that contains an image, a border or partial border may be unexpectedly printed around the image.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if both of the following conditions are true:
- You insert an encapsulated PostScript (EPS) image into the publication.
-and- - You print the publication on a Hewlett Packard (HP) LaserJet 5Si MX printer that is configured with the HP Printer Control Language (PCL) driver.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, configure the HP LaserJet 5Si printer to use the PostScript printer driver. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Printers.
- In the Printers dialog box, right-click the HP LaserJet 5Si MX printer icon, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu that appears.
- In the HP LaserJet 5Si MX Properties dialog box, click New Driver on the Details tab.
You receive the following message:
If you change the printer driver, your changes will be saved and the properties for the new driver will appear. The properties for the new driver may look different. Do you want to continue?
- Click Yes.
- In the Select Device dialog box, click HP in the Manufacturers list.
- In the Models list, click HP LaserJet 5Si/5Si MX PS, and then click OK twice.
- Close the Printers dialog box, and then restart the computer.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
