"Stop 0x0000001e" Error Message After You Install a UMAX Scanner (288918)

When you install or remove a UMAX scanner, and then you restart your computer, you may receive the following error message:
Stop 0x0000001e (0xc0000005,0xf0000f4442,0x00000000,0x00000028)
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
Address f40f4442 base at f40f4000, date stamp 31920ae3 - Udnt.sys
CAUSE
This behavior can occur because the UMAX software installs a system file in the \System32\Drivers folder that is incompatible with Windows 2000.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior:
- Put you computer into Safe mode (if you can) or use the Recovery Console.
- Locate the Udnt.sys file in the C:\(Windows system root) \System32\Drivers folder
- Rename the file to "Udnt.sy_". (Or, delete the file.)
