SUMMARY

The Font Embedding feature is not available in Word 2001 for Mac. The Font Substitution feature automatically substitutes a font for any fonts that are not available on the computer where the document is being opened.

MORE INFORMATION

If a Word 98 document that contains an embedded font is opened in Word 2001 for Mac and then saved in any file format, the font will no longer be embedded. This is by design, because Font Embedding is not supported by Word 2001 for Mac.
