Meaning: Could not create the Application Center log consumer.
Effect: Event logging to the Application Center log will not be available on this computer. A subset of events will still be written to the Windows Event Log. This failure does not affect event logging on other cluster members, but the events for this computer will not be available to the cluster controller until this situation is fixed.
Possible Causes and Solutions
Application Center Log Consumer was deleted: The Log Consumer might be missing. You can check this by using the Component Services snap-in. The Application Center Log Consumer application should appear in the list in the COM+ Applications node.
NOTE: The Component Services property sheet in the Application Center snap-in cannot be used for this purpose.
Application Center Log Consumer settings: The logging consumer settings for Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) or the Application Center Log might be missing or wrong. To check this:
- Stop the Application Center Log Consumer by using the Component Services snap-in.
NOTE: While the Log Consumer is shut-off, Application Center will not receive any events. - Review the Log Consumer WMI settings by clicking Properties. The settings for each property sheet should be:
Security - Enforce access checks for this application = yes
Security Level = Perform access checks only at the process level
Authentication Level = Connect
Impersonation level = Impersonate identity
Account = This user
User = ACL_<computer name>
Activation type = Server application Advanced
Server Process Shutdown = 3 Minutes until idle shutdown
Permission = Disable deletion
- Shut down and then restart the Application Center Log Consumer.

Start, point to
Programs, point to
MSDE, and then click
Service Manager. There might also be an indicator in the taskbar tray.
