SYMPTOMS In Microsoft Word 2002, when you save a file in WordPerfect
5. x format, you may receive the following error message:
Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

error report, the report contains an error signature similar to the error
listed at the beginning of this article. CAUSE This problem occurs if the file contains a sound control.
The sound control has a field code that looks similar to the following:

WORKAROUND To work around this problem, use either of the following
methods:
- Remove the sound control from the file before you save it
in WordPerfect 5.x format.

- Save the file in another file format. For example, save the
